Factors to Consider

Before you buy and install an aircon in your kitchen, you need to remember these factors to make the most out of it.

Air Cleaning Tech

Although some houses have range hoods to extract the smoke out of the kitchen, it may not be sufficient to eliminate odors. An air con that has a built-in odor filter is a good choice for such a location.

This is probably one of our favorite features. We can truly smell the air is clean and fresh.

Energy Saving

We all want to save on electric bills. But if the kitchen is too hot due to increased atmospheric temperature, the unit may have to work harder to achieve your desired temperature. Choose an appliance that has energy saving features.

Based on Surroundings

We know that the kitchen area becomes hotter when we cook. According to DOE’s instructions, one should add about 4,000 kilojoules of capacity to your target unit. This could translate to a 0.5 HP jump from the capacity you are eyeing for. If you intend to get 1.0 HP, then go for the 1.5 HP if installing in the kitchen.

Compact Size

Most kitchen areas are smaller than other sections of the house. A regular sized aircon may be a good option. But we think that split types will also do a good job to maximize the space since it can be installed in the upper walls of the area using a single hole.

Based on our research, kitchens usually have less than 18 square meters so a 1.0 HP may be sufficient. But for smaller houses, an aircon for an apartment may already be enough to cool the entire first floor including the kitchen.

Our personal experience with a unit in the cooking area is long cooling time. We usually set it at 24 degrees Celsius but it takes 45 minutes to cool the kitchen.

Are you now ready to cook those delicious dishes? Make yourself comfortable with these aircon choices.
